Students Reflection about the "I DO"

We, the students with the help of our techers, have searched (using internet resources) about scientific ideas suitable for making a project and we found many interesting ideas but at last we agreed on “ How does mint make our mouth feel cold?”.

2- Our Favorite Aspects of the I DO project

  • The first time we participate in competition with schools.
  • The first time we do a very good project and the 1st time we enter the laboratory and make an experiment of our own with the guidance of our teachers. We are lucky sharing such an interesting project with Miss. Yusser and Mrs.Fatima.
  • One of our hypotheses has been verified and we are very happy for this.

3- What Did We Learn?

  • We learned new things like the scientific method, how to organize our work and how to present it and how to do an experiment.
  • We learned also not to believe in what we feel, but believe in what experiments prove because our brains may cheat us.

4- The Unexpected Things That Shocked Us

  • The increase of the temperature was unexpected.
  • How a shallow question made us go deep inside the science to know more.

5- The Ups of Our I DO Project

  • We worked for the first time with  team work spirit .
  • We learned how to think outside the box (think in another way; think mint).
  • We learned new things without getting bored.

6- The Downs of Our Project

  • We got deprived of our "sport period" for several weeks.
  • The project needed unexpected hard work.

7- Our Data Showed Unexpected Results

  • There was increase in the temperature of the mouth instead of decrease.

8- Our Next Step

We are willing to participate in another “I do”  project and we would like to know more about:

  • Why water droplets when are exposed to temperature higher than 100oC hold together and don’t evaporate?
  • Why when people smoke or take drugs they become addicted?

9- At Last, We Would Like to Say a Big  “Minty THANKS” for:

  • The “ I do” organizers because the “I do” project improved our team work spirit  and made us go out of the box ( think in another way; think mint). “I do” project is a good example about an educational method that is far away from “Boring”.
  •  Our teachers for their hard work and for making things easier and for their patience and faith in us.
