A unique taste sensation of menthol makes cigarettes more preferably young and female. Whereas the effects of menthol cigarettes make people more addicted to the more difficult to quit smoking.

According to reports in the medical journal Addiction Supplement, people who smoked menthol cigarettes, known as menthols, have a higher addiction rates than those who smoked regular cigarettes. As a result, this menthol smokers would be more difficult to quit smoking.

Supplement Report has data from 11 new studies on the rate of smoking cessation among regular users of menthol cigarettes and the factors that may affect users of menthol cigarettes.

TPSAC (Tobacco Products Scientific Advisory Committee) which is part of the regulatory body medicine and American food (FDA) ordered a review of menthol cigarettes and its impact on public health.

Reviews are now in progress is also seeing the effects of menthol cigarettes in certain ethnic groups and among young people. Authorities say it will be completed and submitted to the FDA in March 2012.

Other cigarette ingredients, like grapes, pineapple, strawberry and chocolate have been banned years ago in the United States. However, menthol cigarettes are most popular so far, it is not included in the ban.
